Music

Music has always been a part of Tim's life. Here are Tim and Guadalupe performing as a disk jockey team for the wedding of one of Tim's co-workers at IBM.

Tim's father was a professional musician, the leader of a big band called Johnny Taylor and the Ambassadors. When Tim was 5 years old, his parents began teaching him and his older brother to play the marimba. The young duo won their first talent show in 1953 when Tim was six years old. Tim never stopped playing the marimba. This picture was taken around the year 1980.

During the years 1981 through 1984, Tim played drums and sang back-up vocals in a quartet that played weddings and parties in the Chicago area. Here's the group getting ready to play an outdoor wedding at Ravinia Park near Chicago.

And he's still at it. Here's Tim playing the vibraphone accompanied by the incomparable T. Woods on piano at a get-together of Atlanta-area jazz singers and musicians in the summer of 2005.

In 2008 and 2009, Tim played the marimba and keyboards in a band called Los Amigos. The band played a mix of Latin American as well as U.S. favorites.

Currently, Tim is playing the marimba and vibraphone in another Athens-based group called Incatepec. This 10-member group plays Latin American songs as well as some specifically Andean tunes from Peru.
